The Task

Metro do Lisboa enlisted our services to develop a strategic plan for the retail business. The plan aimed to improve the quality of service and increase revenues by providing upgraded commercial areas, attracting new specialised operators, and improving the overall offer.

Our Approach

Our team initiated the project by conducting an in-depth analysis of existing business conditions such as revenues, contracts, and available areas. We also conducted an international benchmark to identify opportunities, new concepts, and business models.

Following this, we developed a comprehensive strategic plan that considered all critical areas, including optimal areas and layouts, commercial concepts, category and brand mix, concessionaire management model, and marketing plan. Additionally, our team developed optimised layouts for the four main stations and defined the concession plan.

The Result

The result of our strategic approach was significant. Metro de Lisboa attracted new concepts and operators, substantially improving passenger satisfaction. Metro de Lisboa also increased revenues beyond passenger traffic growth with new risk-sharing contracts. Our team’s strategic approach supported Metro de Lisboa in transforming its retail business, providing an enhanced experience for passengers while increasing revenues and attracting more specialised operators.
