Girl in a jacket

The Task

An international design company hired us to provide commercial expertise and ensure that the proposed Terminal 1 commercial design would result in the highest possible level of customer satisfaction, optimal conditions for daily operations, and maximum revenue.

Our Approach

After conducting an in-depth site visit, we provided detailed specifications of space allocation per business line and area of the terminal, benchmarked against the best-performing European airports. We analysed the passenger profile and concept mix, among other factors, to comprehensively understand the current situation. This helped us identify weak areas. For those we developed a step-by-step optimisation strategy to ensure each sqm in the terminal would perform optimally.

In collaboration with the design company, we worked on redirecting passenger flows and suggested three new layouts for the commercial offer. We also provided revenue forecasts for all the proposed layouts while identifying weak areas and elements that needed improvement. Additionally, we suggested new commercial concepts to be introduced.

The Result

The airport management successfully approved our recommendations. A delay in the implementation was caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
