The airport management sought advice from an independent third party to identify optimisation opportunities for the airport’s commercial operation in the short and medium term.
Our Approach
Our team conducted a comprehensive site visit and reviewed all commercial contracts and outsourcing documentation. We analysed various aspects such as the types of products offered, pricing, marketing strategies, customer approach, terminal layouts, passenger flows, and shop allocations. We also benchmarked the sales and revenue data against comparable airports and global best practices.
The Result
We identified several shop re-allocations to allocate space for introducing new concepts geared towards the airport’s passenger profile. We also presented the client with specific and detailed optimisation opportunities, such as creating a mini commercial plaza, improving product mix, making price adjustments, installing pop-up sales and promotion units, introducing mobile food and beverage units, and redirecting passenger flows. The retailers absorbed the limited capital and operational expenditure related to implementing the various revenue-enhancing actions.
